He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard Miers and Hazel Fern Miers (Duffy); his wife Della Miers; his siblings, Dale Miers, Willard (Wanda Miers) and Mable Miers; and his siblings-in-law, Norman Cross, Ray Landenberger, Richard Hans, Nancy Johnson and Marjorie Junge.
He is survived by : his children, Katherine Hartmann (Steven), Robert Miers (Sandy), Dr. David Miers (Lanae) and Lincoln; his grandchildren, Timothy Hartmann (Christine), Benjamin Hartmann, Khristina Hindmand (Jason), Jesse Heyen (Rosalie), Michael Miers (Lexi), Theresa Price, Andrew Alley, Alexis Alley, Aliscia Stutzman (Tanner), McKenzie Miers and Maci Miers; his sister Lucille Cross; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Landenberger of Diller, NE, Linda Ehrlich (Roy), Mildred Miers and Delbert Junge. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
On May 24, 2023, he was the first former first responder to ever receive a Challenge Token from the First Responders Foundation.
