He was predeceased by: his parents, Lavern Stracke (Bill) and Mildred Stracke (Baum); his brother William (Little Bill); his daughter-in-law Jenny; his granddaughter Aubrey; and his brothers-in-law, Dennis Ries and Ron Ries.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret (Ries); his children, Mark of Stuart, Mardell Stoltenberg (Gary) of Stuart, Mike of Stuart and Matt (Amber) of Hallam, NE; his brother Del (Marilyn) of Stuart; and his sister-in-law Ruth (Ries). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Stuart Community Foundation Fund to honor Mel's lifelong commitment to the Stuart community.
