Kathleen B. Purcell-Westphal Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen B. Purcell-Westphal of Syracuse, Nebraska, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 13, 2025 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Larsen and Mildred Larsen (Day); her husbands, James Purcell and Hugo Westphal; her sister Shirley Heier; her grandson Justin Lee Wagner; her daughters, Shelley Wagner (Dale) of Columbia, MO, Cindy Freeman (CJ) of Austin, TX and Deborah Connaway (Wes) of Allen, TX; her grandchildren, Aaron Wagner, Alicia Bartenhagen, Rebecca Wagner, Lauren Wagner, Jonathan Hickman and Jason Purcell; and her great grandchildren, Thaddeus and Meryn Wagner.
She is survived by: her sisters, Eleanor Stiles (Charles) of Superior, NE and Joanne McChesney of Lincoln, NE; and her siblings-in-law, Harlan Heier of Lincoln, NE, Mary Anderson and Phyllis Merrill. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church (8550 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68520). The inurnment will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Evergreen Cemetery. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at the same location.
Memorials can be made to the family and will be directed to a charity close to Kathleen's heart.
