He was predeceased by: his grandmother Mary A. (Vrtiska); his aunt Lydia Morrissey; his wife Mary Darlene Steinauer (Donelan); his siblings, Ronald, William (Billie Jo), P. Nicholas (Nick), Ernest Jr., Maureen Bovick and Joan Monzingo; and his cousins, Lydia Morrissey, Jerome Morrissey, Laurence Morrissey (Spide) and Claudine Schafer.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Steinauer of Lincoln, Daniel Steinauer (Sallie) of Lincoln, James Steinauer (Susie) of Lincoln, John Steinauer (Renae) of Bellevue and Joan Juergens (John) of Purchase, NY.; his grandchildren, J. August Shoemaker (Gus) of Lincoln, Mackenzie Sheaff (Evan) of Lincoln and Sara Steinauer (Elijah Carlisle) of Lincoln; his children, Emilie of Bellevue, Kaitlin Steinauer of Bellevue, Claire of Purchase, NY. and Pierce Juergens of Purchase, NY.; his sister Sheila Schlaebitz of Gretna; and his cousins, Jeanine Munoz and Larry Durante.
