He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sister Beth Bennett; his adoptive father Rudy; his wife Peggy Dittrich; his children, Ashley, Jamie and Mercedes Gholson (Logan); his grandchildren, Bentley, Riker Gholson, Ashley Dittrich and Jamie Wills (Garrett); and his siblings, Jim Matthews, Bob Matthews, Tom Matthews, Mike Matthews, Francis Larson, John Matthews, Brad Schuster, Sue Zach and Patty Matthews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Antelope County Ag Youth Enrichment Center (709 E. Hwy 275, Neligh, NE 68756). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family for their discretion for a later date.
