He was predeceased by : his parents, Stanley Karel and Anna Karel (Kucera); his father-in-law Theodore Komenda; his wife Nancy Karel (Komenda); his sons-in-law, Timothy Nordmeyer and Matthew McKelvey; his siblings, Jerry Karel, Anna Holsan, Barb Greguras (Clarence) and Carol Karel; and his nieces, Jeannie Greguras and Deborah Krause.
He is survived by : his mother-in-law Eleanor "Glee" Komenda of Brainard; his children, Michael Karel (Lisa) of Seward, Rebecca McKelvey of Valparaiso and Jody Hartmann (Jon) of Colorado; his siblings-in-law, John Holsan of Colorado, Randy Komenda (Bev) of Lincoln, Connie Makovicka (John) of Ulysses and Jan Bohac (Marvin) of Valparaiso; and his grandchildren, Reid, Regan, Claire, Caden Karel, Madison, Grant, Chase McKelvey and Austin Hartmann. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Family has requested IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, PLANTS or STATUES, for Memorials in Care of the Family for later designation.
