He was predeceased by: his parents, W. Reed Tompkins and Violet Tompkins (Olson); and his sisters-in-law, Sandy Tompkins and Joanne Nagel. He is survived by: his wife Loreta Damme; his children, Dana Tompkins (Sonya) of Wayne, Nathan Tompkins (Irena) of Omaha and Jill Brodersen (Doug) of Wayne; his siblings, Mike Tompkins, Brad Tompkins (Kathy) of Melbourne, FL, Linda Johansen (Conrad) and Valarie Donaldson (Paul) of Dakota Dunes, SD; his grandchildren, Riley Brodersen (Josie), Ezra Brodersen (Samantha), Jonah Brodersen (Grace Heithold), James Tompkins and Sarah Tompkins; his great grandchild Penny; his aunts, Audrey Olson of Emerson, NE and Donna Magnolo of Phoenix, AZ; and his brother-in-law Robert Nagel of Loveland, CO.. He is also survived by other great grandchild on the way; nieces, nephews, many cousins.

A funeral service was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Wayne Grace Lutheran Church (904 Logan St, Wayne, NE 68787).

Memorials can be made to the Tompkins family for later designation.
