He is survived by: his wife Dixie; his sons, Tucker Thompson (Melissa) of Eustis, Nebraska, Thorpe Thompson (Shelly) of Yoder, Wyoming and Taylor Thompson (JoEllen) of Rapid City; his grandchildren, Collin (Kenzie), Colton, Carley Thompson, Jamie Brimer (Cooper), Jacey Milligan (Logan), Haiden, Tiegen, Hadley, Turek, Tinley, Taisley Thompson, Turner, Benjamin and Abby Thompson; and his great grandchildren, Blake Thompson and Mcrae Milligan.

A Memorial has been established for the Whitney United Methodist Church.
