He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen "Hap" Brummer and Wilma Brummer (Bryan); and his brother Richard Allen Brummer. He is survived by: his wife Linda Brummer of Wilcox; his children, Kelly Jewett (Scott) and Michael Brummer (Sydnee); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jewett, Mackenzie Jewett and Chipper Brummer; his brothers, Bruce Brummer (Denise) of Merna, Nebraska, Terry Brummer (Shelley) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Scott Brummer (Rita) of Wilcox; and his aunt Donna Guthrie.

A memorial has been established in Wayne's honor, and kindly suggested to Spirit of Grace Church in Holdrege, Brookstone Home Health and Hospice of Kearney, and the Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department.
