John David Thompson Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on September 28, 2025, at the age of 98, John David Thompson of York, Nebraska passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ozro and Florence (Flanagan); his wife Viola Schmidt; his daughter Cheryl Ocken; and his siblings, Marie, Margaret Patterson (Dean), Tom Thompson and Richard Thompson.

He is survived by: his children, David Thompson (Deb) of York and Cindy Bellows (Ron) of York; his grandchildren, Thatcher Thompson (Jenny), Jameson Bellows (Sasha Adams), John Bellows (Beth), Zachery Ocken (Madison) and Logan Ritze (Jared); his brother Joe Thompson (Lenore) of Sioux Falls, SD; and his sister-in-law Maxine Hurlbut (Jerry) of York. He is also survived by four great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters.
