He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Henderikus Esch and Patricia Van Esch (Vander Meulen); his wife Linda Huizenga of York; his son Scott Van Esch (Kim) of York; his grandchildren, Deven Van Esch and Kylie McGowan (Cody) of York; his great grandchildren, Colton, Casen and Crew McGowan; his siblings, Hank Van Esch (Donna) and Ann Barnett (Danny); his son Dave Van Esch; and his sister Betty. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to Cedardale Fire Department or any City Park near you.
