He was predeceased by : his parents, Hubert Heule and Louise Heule (Parvin); his former life partner Kathy Wilcox; and his brothers, Cecil, William and Ted.

He is survived by : his wife Alice Ames of York; his children, Richard Jr., Tina Mackrill (Russ) of Laurens, S. C. and Dan Heule (Sonya) of Yakam, WA.; and his stepchildren, Wade Wederquist (Debbie) of Tabon, IA, Sheryl Wederquist of Red Oak, IA and Neal Wederquist (Becky) of Dyersville, IA.. He is also survived by Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
