He was predeceased by: his parents, James N. Gates and Virginia F. Gates; his grandson Ryan Neumann; and his brother David Gates. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Belmore Gates of Amherst, NH; his children, Harold Bennett (Jecel) of Middleton, NH, James Gates (Dale) of Townsend, Peter Gates (Whitney Elefsrud) of Amherst, NH, Mary Gates of Somerville and Jamie Leclerc (Michael) of Troy, NH.; and his grandchildren, Gabriel Stevens, Isabella Gates, Charlie Gates, Wyatt Gates, George Gates and Empress Hanna Paculanang.
