He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Carmichael of Bedford, NH; his former wife Judith Post of Manchester, NH; his children, John Carmichael (Kristine) of Atkinson, NH, Maureen Boyden (John) of Bedford, NH, Jill Hatfield (Michael) of North Easton, MA, Craig Carmichael (Mary) of Tyngsboro, MA, Stephen Carmichael of Franklin, NH, Lois Brodsky (Stephen) of Bedford, NH, Joseph Carmichael of Franklin, NH, Eric Carmichael of Franklin, NH, Megan Bassett (Cori) of Cumberland, VA and Rebeka Osteen (Mitch) of Danbury, NH.; and his siblings, Malcom (Hoagy), Edward, David, Richard, Alan, Susan, Bruce, Paul and Sharon. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
