Alan L. Hayward Jr. Obituary

Alan Lee Hayward Jr, 51, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2024. He was born on April 12, 1972 in Winchester, Massachusetts, to parents Sharon Hayward and Alan Lee Hayward Sr. He is survived by his mother, Sharon Hayward, 77, sister, Dawn Hayward, 58, daughter, Elizabeth Hayward, 25, son, Mark Hayward, 24 and stepdaughter Suzanne Jalbert Jones, 33. From an early age, Alan's love for motorcycles and talent for fixing things was evident, fixing up old bikes and tinkering with engines in his father's shop.

He spent much of his childhood palling around with his cousins, George, Jeffery, Michael and Andrew; they were more like brothers to him. He worked as a driller at Sanmina for several years and then discovered his passion and talent for carpentry, working at Black Dog Builders. He was celebrated for his fine finish work and creative abilities. Alan was larger than life and had many talents. He was part of the Life Way Church's Men's Softball League and was known to make epic catches from the outfield with little regard for personal injury.

He loved going up to Stewartstown to camp and enjoy the north country on his Summit 800 snowmobile. In 1999, he married Karen Hayward and they had two children, Mark and Elizabeth. He claimed Karen's daughter, Suzanne, as one of his own as well. His joy for his work, sports and anything with wheels was far surpassed by the love for his children. He loved being a father and was so proud of his children's countless military, business and personal successes. Later in life, he entered his self-titled "semi-retirement" phase and helped develop several small businesses with his son, Mark.

Chief of Operations of Just Gonna Scrap It, he managed several scrapping accounts and in the winters, he loved to plow for Hayward Plowing, llc. In all areas of life, he was a true friend and a first call in times of need. He is remembered for his ability to fix just about anything and his razor-sharp wit; he could make anyone laugh - and did. Whether renovating a kitchen or running a plow truck, he was a professional helper, always a phone call away, with his DeWalt tools and his willing heart. He will be unspeakably missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, located at 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with a burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, East Derry, NH.
