She was predeceased by: her parents, Matthew Courtney and Hilda Courtney (Taylor); her sons, Robert Avery Jr. and Raymond Avery; and her siblings, Clara Hatcher, Bessie Seymour, Thomas Courtney and Robert Courtney.
She is survived by: her children, Kenny Avery (Diane), Donna Santamaria of Southboro and Paul Avery of Pelham; her grandchildren, Jenna Avery and Nicholas Avery; and her great grandchildren, Piper, Peyton, Paxton, Isabella, Sofia and Benjamin. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Shirley's lifelong passions, donations in Shirley's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a local animal shelter of your choice.
