He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest L. Smith and Josephine Clements (Massuci); his aunt Esther Smith; and his siblings, Ernest Smith Jr., Ruth Farinato, Joseph Smith, Jean Govostes, Esther O'Connor and Rita Gliniak.

He is survived by : his brother Joe; his children, Trisha, Robert C. Smith Jr. (Debra) of Grayslake, IL, Elaine Cummings (John) of Fremont, NH, Susan V. Marden (Timothy) of Hooksett, NH, Patricia Pelletier of Gloucester, MA, Christian Smith of Gloucester, MA and Michael Smith; his stepdaughter Mary Parga; and his sister Shirley I. Collier of Medford, MA. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
