He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Whitney and Ruth Whitney (Atwood); and his son John Whitney III. He is survived by: his wife Darlene Whitney (Duggan); his children, Tammy Morey (Sean) and Cally Whitney; his daughter-in-law Lisa Whitney; and his sister Patricia Lyon (Whitney). He is also survived by one niece; three nephews.
