He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph, Sr. Tavares and Marjorie Tavares (Sylvester); and his brother John Tavares. He is survived by : his children, Sabrina Tavares, Christina Cantara, Melissa Tavares and Robert Tavares Jr.; his siblings, Joseph Tavares Jr. and Linda Nelson; and his former life partner Andrea Cottrell (Tommy).
