He was predeceased by: his parents, Armas Hakala and Anne Hakala (Larson). He is survived by: his children, Mark Hakala (Lauren), Katherine Fowler (Geoffrey) and Karin Welch (Stephen); his grandchildren, Jennifer Lehrman, Keith Lehrman (Talia) and Jared Hakala (Ava); his great grandchild Ada Lehrman; his sister Anne Olean; and his niece Heidi Welnak.
