He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Janice E. Copithorne (Johnson); his parents, Ella Winnetta (Walkup) and James W. Copithorne, Jr.; his son Matthew Copithorne (Rhiannon Hobbs); his granddaughters, Allison of Westborough, MA, Meredith of Lebanon, NH and Olivia of Landaff, NH; his siblings, Judith McEntegart (John) of Framingham, Jo Ann Thorpe (Kenneth) of Framingham and David Copithorne (Erin McGrath) of Framingham; his siblings-in-law, Sandra Johnson Fairbanks of Hopkinton, MA and Frank Johnson (Marjorie) of Upton, MA; his daughter-in-law Stephanie Delahunt of Hyannis, MA; and his son Brian. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
