He is survived by: his wife Betsy Trottier (Akerman); his stepchildren, John Coates and Ernie Coates Jr. (Shelley); his grandchildren, Gage Coates (Vanessa), Nikki Bellavia (Louis) and Noel Mondore; his great grandchildren, Aubriella Mondore, Colton Coy, Jackson Coy, Rayleigh Coy and Watson Bellavia; his father Leon Trottier Jr.; and his siblings, Debbie Sargent (Doug), Clara French, Douglas Trottier (Vanessa), David Trottier (Betty) and John Moore (Debra). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
