He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Griggs and Ellen Griggs; his former wife Patricia Kovacs; his wife Carol Griggs; and his sister Patricia Walter.

He is survived by: his sister MaryEllen Whitney; his children, Thomas Griggs (Laurie Cass-Griggs), Michael Griggs, Francis Griggs, Katherine and Reed Fry; and his grandchildren, Cody Griggs, Chloe Griggs, Mason Griggs, Sadie Griggs, Tristan, Leah Green and Noah Cass.
