He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Melanson (Cotton) and Joseph I Melanson Jr.; and his granddaughter Elizabeth Ruth Melanson. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Melanson (Whipple); his son Joseph I Melanson IV (Elaine); his grandchildren, Katherine, Andrea, Joey and Timothy F. Melanson (Cynthia); his great grandchildren, Christopher and Gregory; and also, Miles and Matthew.
