Iola left this world on March 8, 2025 at the age of 96, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Eldora Smith and Frederick Westbrook; her husband L. D. Mitchell; and her son Larry Lawson. She is survived by: her extended family, Cuzzin', Cuzzin'Lord and Cuzzin'Nordstroms; her children, Sandra Faye Davis, Brigite Mitchell Morton (Cleferd) and Ronald D. Mitchell (Malissa); and her grandchildren, Lorenzo Lawson (Clair), Sean Lawson (Shauron), Sajata Mickens, Aja Monchery, Brittany Mitchell and Zachary Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Stephens AME Zion Church (1001 Springwood Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07753). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery (350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562).
