He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Paparone and Benedetta Paparone; his siblings, Theresa, Mary and Dr. Joseph Paparone; his aunt Cona; his uncle Joseph Paparone; and his cousins, Basil (Naval Captain) and Theresa Paparone.

He is survived by: his wife Pam; his son Philip Perry Paparone, MD (Yajaira Paparone, MD); his grandchildren, Celeste, Philip Vince, Basil and Selena; his great grandchildren, Andrea, Giovanni and Mia Teresa; his brother Basil J. Paparone, MD (Kathy); his sister-in-law Peggy Paparone; his mother-in-law Betty Ann Richter; his sister-in-law Robin Dunikoski; his nieces, Lisa Paparone, Heather Paparone (Tom O'Neill), Patricia Paparone MD (Winn Klaine) of Len Dunikoski, DO and Genevieve Wall (Michael); his nephew Joseph Paparone (Marc) of Danielle Glogovsky, DNP; and his friends, Bob, Bobby, Charlie, Gus and Imp.

In 2010, he was named Teacher of the Year, and in 2014, he was honored as a "Legend in Medicine and Healthcare" by the Dr. Leon Smith Infectious Disease Foundation.
