He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemuel Himmen Lane and Mary Jane Lane; his wife Carol Jean Lane; his daughter Penny Patricia Fillman; his nephew Daniel Lane; and his niece Kathleen Hawn.

He is survived by: his siblings, William J. Lane (Kathleen) and Patricia Hawn; his son Robert L. Lane (Jennifer); his son-in-law Carl Fillman; his grandchildren, Nicole M. Fillman, Michael J. Fillman, Robert E. Lane, Jessica R. Lane, Amanda Blizzard (William) and Briana Lambe (Tirrell); and his nieces and nephews, William Lane (Daria), Diane Dunbar (Al), Andrew Hawn and Jennifer Wilson (Eric).
