Ronald Treveloni Obituary

Ronald 'Ron' Anthony Treveloni passed away on August 1st, at his home in Basking Ridge, NJ, surrounded by the love of his family. He will be missed immensely but leaves a legacy defined by devotion to those he loved, unwavering integrity, hard work, and a life lived with fun and laughter.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine "Cathy" Dewey; his daughter Catherine ('Kate') Fencl and her husband, Tomas, of Lake Forest, Illinois, and their children, Catherine ('Katia') and Mark; his daughter Christine Treveloni Reidenbach and her husband, David, of Orinda, California, and their daughters, Samantha and Maisie; and his son Ronald ('RT') Treveloni Jr. and his wife, Anna, of Summit, New Jersey, and their sons, Matthew, Lucas, and William. He is also survived by brothers Rick Treveloni (Chris) and Peter Treveloni (Patty), sister Jean Eaton, many nieces and nephews, and pre-deceased by his parents, Reno and Regina Simonetta Treveloni and brother Paul Treveloni (Jean).

Ron was born in December 1946, in Framingham, Massachusetts and raised in nearby Ashland. His childhood was spent gardening and cooking alongside his grandfather, working at family-owned Ashland Construction with his father and brothers, fishing the waters of Cape Cod and skating the frozen ponds of Massachusetts.

After graduating Marian High School, Ron attended Tufts University, where he played varsity football and lacrosse, partied with his Theta Delta Chi brothers, studied Civil Engineering, and took business classes at Harvard.

Soon after graduating, Ron married his high school girlfriend and love of his life, Cathy Dewey, and began a 58 year adventure together. Ron started his career at Raymond International soon after, where they moved 13 times for 13 different projects in the first year. After a 5-year stint in Atlanta as regional manager of the southeast with a young family, he left Raymond in 1975 to join the Spiniello Construction Company in Morristown, NJ, taking over as manager of their Marine and Heavy Construction Division. In 1987 a reorganization of Spinello gave Ron the opportunity to realize his lifelong ambition of having his own company and he decided to start Trevcon Construction Inc. in the basement of their home, by himself.

Ron quickly grew into a visionary builder and respected leader in the heavy and marine construction industry, when he founded one of New York metropolitan area's premier companies. Under his leadership and innovation, Trevcon earned a reputation for taking on some of the region's most technically demanding waterfront and infrastructure projects. His professional legacy can be seen all over the NYC waterfront having built new or rehabilitated over 350 projects. Some examples include stabilizing the piers for the 9/11 command center, constructing foundations for the Mario Cuomo Bridge, building multiple new piers in all 5 boroughs and a wharf in Groton, CT which enabled the US Navy's next generation of ballistic missile submarines. Ron served as a Trustee for the Moles, on the Executive Committee for the GCANY and in 2018, Ron was awarded Constructor of the Year by the Professional Engineers in Construction of New Jersey.

He was especially proud of the extraordinary team he assembled over the decades. Ron believed that a company's greatest asset was its people, and he was fiercely loyal to those who worked beside him. Most employees spent careers with Trevcon, drawn not only by the company's reputation for excellence but by Ron's integrity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those around him. His word became his signature—trusted by clients and respected by competitors.

Despite the demands of leading a successful business, Ron's favorite title was 'Dad' and later 'Grampy.' He and Cathy built a family that worked hard and played hard. Ron prioritized education, coached and cheered on countless sports and activities, helped build science projects, traveled on so many great family vacations, and found genuine joy in watching his children pursue their passions.

That same enthusiasm only deepened when he became a grandfather. His seven grandchildren were among the greatest blessings of his life. He delighted in celebrating each of their unique personalities and accomplishments and creating unforgettable traditions, vacations and holidays together. They know him as the fun Grampy who set off fireworks, took them on golf cart rides, cooked with them, taught them golf, and never missed an opportunity to spoil them. He took immense pride in each of them and made sure to tell them all to live a life that makes them happy.
Golf was one of Ron's lifelong joys—not simply because of the game itself, but because of the friendships it fostered. He played countless rounds on courses throughout the world with people he considered dear friends. At Roxiticus Golf Club, he spent many memorable days alongside his brother-in-law and partner-in-crime, Frank Dewey, and in Old Lyme with his brother-in-law, Jerry Anderson. His dedication to Roxiticus extended beyond the fairways as he proudly served as Chairman of the Greens Committee. He loved recounting his 5 holes-in-one. His first one was on the 12thhole of the Bay Course in Kapula, two more on the 9th hole at Roxiticus in NJ and two at Grey Oaks - Palm Course #12 and Estuary #14.

2011 brought another extraordinary chapter when Ron and Cathy moved to Grey Oaks in Naples, Florida. There they embraced a vibrant community that quickly became home. Ron treasured time on the golf course with the Choppers and his Wednesday group, relished spirited bocce matches with Team Freeballing, and especially enjoyed the dinners, laughter, and camaraderie that followed. The friendships he and Cathy built there enriched their lives immeasurably and brought them tremendous happiness.

At the center of Ron's life was his remarkable partnership with Cathy. Their 58-year marriage was built on unwavering love, mutual respect, laughter, resilience, adventure, and an unshakable commitment to one another. They were true partners in every sense—raising a family, building a business, traveling the world, supporting one another through life's challenges, and celebrating its many joys.

Ron will be remembered not only for the company he built or the projects that transformed the New York waterfront, but for the way he lived—with steadfast loyalty, generosity, and the fun he brought to everywhere he went.
