He is survived by: his wife Ellen Akersten; his children, Missy McDermott (Kevin) and Kurt Akersten; his brother Peter Akersten (Betty); his sister-in-law Maureen Akersten; and his grandchildren, Lily, Madelyn, Audrey Akersten, Genevieve, Fergus, Darcey and Kurt McDermott.
