He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill Thompson and Ruth Thompson; his siblings, Merrill "Tommy" Thompson, Ruth Baxter and Liddy Ditto; and his son Garth Thompson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jodi, Kendy, Stacey and Tobi Thompson; his grandchildren, Jayden, Keira, Brooklyn and Niko Linder; his nephews, Michael Ditto (Sally) and James Baxter; and his niece Judi Baxter.
