She was predeceased by: her parents, Erich Merkel and Emilie Merkel; and her sister Lisalotte Helck. She is survived by: her spouse Willi Ziegler; her daughters, Barbara Ziegler, Christine Williams (Robert) and Diane Ziegler; and her grandchildren, Melanie Stephany, Erik Stephany, Robert Whelan, Gregory Whelan, Matthew Gratacos, Nicholas Gratacos and Michael Gratacos. She is also survived by great grandchildren.
