He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Cronin, (Hummer) and William Cronin, Sr.; and his brother William Cronin. He is survived by: his wife Toni (DeFrancesco); his children, Carolyn Sanders (David) of Smithfield and Edward Cronin, Jr. (Melissa) of Park Ridge, NJ; his grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha Sanders, Emily and Michael Cronin; his brother James; his sister-in-law Jackie Glackin of Millburn; his niece Annie Vilarino (Joe); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jacob, Genna and Allie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fireman's Home, Butler, NJ, Tunnel to Towers or St Jude's Children's Hospital.

“There are not enough words to describe the warm and generosity of this man. Ed opened his home to me and all of Carolyn's college friends from UMASS. Later on, he even welcomed my wife and kids when we were visiting New Jersey. He always had a funny story to share and that amazing smile. Even he was screaming about the Yankees or Giants, that smile was always there. Toni, Carolyn, EJ and family, Ed will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of even spending one minute with him.”
