He was predeceased by: his wife Sara Teresa McAteer (Grant) of Glenard; and his children, Michael A. McAteer, Jr., Marian McAteer and Gerri McAteer. He is survived by: his children, Francis McAteer of Maplewood, Patrick McAteer of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Richard McAteer (Ellen) of Manchester, John McAteer of Roseland, Ellen McAteer of Harwich, Massachusetts and Deirdre McAteer of Cape May; and his grandchildren, Caitlin, Maura, Sara (Mario), Richard (Marissa), Kristin (Gerard) and Michael.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Timothy E. Ryan Home For Funerals (145 St Catherine Blvd, Toms River, NJ 08755). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St Maximilian Kolbe RC Church (130 St. Maximilian Lane, Berkeley Twp, NJ 08757). A burial was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the St. Joseph Cemetery - Toms River (62 Cedar Grove Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753).
