He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Croot and Florence Croot; his wife Mary; his son Jimmy; and his brother Ed Croot.
He is survived by: his children, John, Jr. (Karol) of Basking Ridge and Jacqueline Carroll (Michael) of Wesport; his grandson Rocco Carroll; and his brothers, Ernie and Sam Croot.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home (101 S Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (100 Claremont Rd, Bernardsville, NJ 07924). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at the Holy Cross Cemetery (145 Mt Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920).
