He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Borden and Edna Thickson Borden; and his wife Elizabeth Codding Borden. He is survived by: his children, Pamela Borden Heckert (Clark), John C. Borden III and R. Douglas Borden (Kim); his grandchildren, J. Winfield Heckert, Elizabeth C. Heckert, Anneliese Heckert Burch (Zach), Peter B. Heckert, Adam D. Borden and John C. Borden IV (Thanecha); and his great grandchildren, Madeline B. Heckert, Audrina M. Borden, Wyatt W. Burch and Emmett J. Burch.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doane Academy, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (Beverly), or the American Cancer Society.
