Joan R. Tierney Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan R. Tierney of Brick, New Jersey, who passed away on November 29, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband James H. A. Tierney; her parents, Robert W. Rhodes Jr. and Joan Rhodes; and her brother William Rhodes. She is survived by: her children, Waverly F. Phelps (Samantha) of Chesapeake, VA, James Tierney Jr. (Lisa) of Seattle, WA, Shawn Tierney of Idaho, Justin Tierney (Michelle) of Point Pleasant and Jennette Tittelfitz (Peter) of East Brunswick; her sister Robbie Etheridge of Chesapeake, VA; and her sister-in-law Vicky Rhodes of Chesapeake, VA. She is also survived by many grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the O'Brien Funeral Home-Brick (505 Burnt Tavern Rd, Brick Township, NJ 08724). A prayer will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the same location. An entombment will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Ocean County Memorial Park (1722 Silverton Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753).
