Mary Ann Thornberry Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of Mary Ann Thornberry of Brookside, New Jersey. Mary Ann, born on March 4, 1936, passed away on September 30, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene Mattingly and Josephine Mattingly (Fleig); her husband Richard David Thornberry; her son Jeffrey Thornberry; and her siblings, Junie Mattingly, Robert Mattingly, Kenneth "Bobby" Mattingly, Rita Carol Mattingly and Betty Ackerman.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sarah Thornberry and Lucy Thornberry (Paul Wiedemann); her siblings, William Mattingly, Francis, Hatsy, Patsy Clements, Nancy Jo Matinglt, Rosemary "Rosie" Bickett, Brenda Mattingly and Martha Lynn Hall; her grandchildren, Robert (Viviana), Matthew, Emily (Jason) and Karlee (Carl); and her great grandchildren, Eddie and Mariana.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Brookside Firehouse (1 Cherry Ln, Mendham Township, NJ 07945).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Ann's memory may be made to Denville Center for the Blind, Brookside Fire Department (https://www.bec1.org), or to a charity of your choice.
