He was predeceased by: his mother Freda Ballay; and his stepfather Theodore Warner. He is survived by: his wife Alice; his children, Fred G. Ballay III, Nancy Ballay (Colleen), Christopher Ballay (Suzanne) and Scott Ballay (Julie); his daughter-in-law Carol Ballay; his siblings, Carol Gillece and John Ballay; and his grandchildren, Kyle, Shawn, Tara, Lauren, Adelle and Gavin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
