Mary E. Jacobus Obituary

Mary Edith Jacobus, 86, of Chester, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at Hackettstown Medical Center. Born on February 17, 1939, in Dover, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Jessie Burnett.

Mary spent most of her life in Morris County before moving to Sidney, NY, where she lived for 18 years. She worked for many years as a braiding operator at Cooperative Industries in Chester. Mary's greatest joy was her family, whom she loved with all her heart. She was also a devoted member of her church in New York and a loyal Miami Dolphins fan.

Mary is survived by her three loving children, Myron Jacobus, Julie Coulter, and Michael Jacobus; her seven grandchildren, Renee, Kristine, Megan, Geri, Glenn, Jerry 3rd, and Vinnie; and her right great-grandchildren, Macie, Cecelia, Gianna, Ethan, Sophia, Owen, Kalli, and Hailey. She is also survived by her siblings, Patricia, Karen, Ronald, and Bruce, along with many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Jerry Jacobus, Jr., and her brothers, Jack and Robert Burnett.

A Life Celebration for Mary will include visitation on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road, Chester, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.
