He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sweeney and Anne Sweeney of Linden, NJ.; and his siblings, Jacqueline Chiappetta and Patrick Sweeney (Jean Sweeney). He is survived by: his significant other Jean Sweeney; his children, Michael Sweeney, Thomas Sweeney and Christine Sweeney; his grandchildren, Danielle Sweeney, Caitlin Sweeney, Megan Sweeney, Kelly Sweeney and Thomas Sweeney Jr.; his great grandchildren, Emily, Harrison, Benjamin and Scarlett; and his sister Joan Alexander.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 14th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home (803 Raritan Rd, Clark, NJ 07066). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, May 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church (332 Madison Hill Rd, Clark, NJ 07066). A burial was held on Wednesday, May 14th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the St. Gertrude Cemetery (53 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ 07067).
