He was predeceased by: his wife Erma Vera Phillips; his stepdaughter Susan L. Brynan; his grandson Corey Fortson; his parents, Raymond Phillips and Elsie Mae Phillips; and his siblings, Raymond L. Phillips, Jr., William B. Phillips, Charles E. Phillips, Carol Phillips and Dorothy A. Phillips.

He is survived by: his daughters, Joann E. Neeld of Blackwood and Barbara E. McKee of Blackwood; his stepdaughter Denise L. Brynan of Paulsboro; his grandchildren, William R. Neeld, Jr., Maryann Neeld, Matthew Cavanaugh, Geronimo V. Lopez, Jr., Alexander S. Lopez, Jonathan M. Lopez, Nicole Phillips, Amber Fortson, Peggy Greene and April Brynan; and his siblings, Judith M. Phillips and Lawrence D. Phillips.
