Joan will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Though Joan is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Joan’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her mother Joan Martha Pignataro (Hergert). She is survived by: her father James Pignataro; her husband Edward Sitler; her children, Julianne Sitler and Justin Sitler (Tamnhu); and her siblings, Jamie Hovick, James Pignataro and John Pignataro. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home (803 Raritan Rd, Clark, NJ 07066). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church of Clark (559 Raritan Rd, Clark, NJ 07066). A burial was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Hazel Wood Cemetery (64 W Lake Ave, Rahway, NJ 07066).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Clark NJ or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in her name. The family has chosen to send donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
