He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy S. Smith; his parents, Helen Smith, and Foster P. Smith, Jr.; and his sister Gail Zitzman. He is survived by: his children, Danielle Findley (George) and Foster P. Smith, IV of Nutley, NJ; his grandchildren, Jaleena, Karma Findley and Foster P. Smith V; and his brothers, Robert P. Smith (Kathy) of New Jersey and Michael Smith (Laura Stanton) of Florida.
