He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lee and Alma Lee; his sisters, Rose Upshaw (Theodore) of Montclair and Patricia Craig (Jefferson) of Plainfield; his daughter Cheryl Ann; his brother Billy; and his wife Shirley J. Lee.

He is survived by: his son Robert W. Lee, Jr.; and his stepsons, Michael Thomas (Linda) of Drexel Hill and Donald Thomas (Agnes) of Piscataway, NJ. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.

He formerly held board membership positions in the Diabetes Center of NJ; African American Arts & heritage Festival; Scotch Plains-Fanwood Human Rights Council and the Joh Shippen Foundation.
