He was predeceased by: his parents, Giovanni Amato and Filomena Amato; and his sister Rosalia Ferrera. He is survived by: his significant other Alfonsa "Alice" Amato; his brothers, Anthony Amato and Dino Amato; his children, Giovanni (Kim) of Phillipsburg and Mamie (Jeff) of Monroe; his grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathan (Lauren), Alison (Justin), Adam (Taylor), Valerie (Alec), Stephanie (Nick), Jennifer and Giovanni; his great grandchildren, Eliana, Micaela and Lucas; and his sisters-in-law, Anna Amato, Terri Palermo and Francesca Stanislawczyk. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
