We are sad to announce that on June 22, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Maria G. Bernardes of Elizabeth, New Jersey. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Manuel António Esteves and Françisca Ináçio Coelho of Folgosinho. She is survived by: her husband Fernando Pires Bernardes; her children, Fernanda Manochio (Anthony), Valdemar Bernardes (Laureen), John Bernardes (Sandra) and Jacinta Klein (Brian); her sibling Amélia Gaspar; and her siblings-in-law, Françisco, Natália, Rósa, Dina and Florbela. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home (139 Westfield Ave, Elizabeth, NJ 07208). A Mass will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Fatima R. C. Church (403 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201). An entombment will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Gertrude Cemetery (53 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ 07067).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
