Anita Jackson wrote a sympathy message

“I remember Joe as a kind and thoughtful man. He had a marvelous sense of humor as he commented on his observations. I will also remember the time that he and uncle Mike’s Joey“(since several cousins were named Joe D’Amico, we referred to the father of each of them. There was also uncle Sam’s Joey, uncle Frank’s Joey, and uncle Sal’s Joey.) took me to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. That was the first time that I’ve ever gone to a museum and it was a wonderful experience.”
