He was predeceased by: his parents, Gaeta Grisi and Evan Conklin; his brothers, Charles and Robert Conklin; and his aunt Rie.

He is survived by: his husband John Fiorenza; his sister Patricia Johnson; his nieces, Trisha Johnson (Jorge) and Melissa Gaeta; his cousin Lenny Wolpert (Sharon); and his kitties, Norma and Toddy.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the A. K. Macagna Funeral Home (495 Anderson Ave, Cliffside Park, NJ 07010). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepard Church. An entombment was held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 at 11:15 AM.

Not only was Joseph known for his achievements as an educator, he was also known for his contributions to community theater.
