He was predeceased by: his father Carl Matthes; and his brother Chris Matthes. He is survived by: his daughter Tanya Mena; his mother Cecilia Matthes-Petersen; his siblings, Curt Matthes (Kaye) and Cecilia "Bunnie" Matthes; and his grandchildren, Peter, Ricky and Sophia Angelesse. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
