William E. Carnathan Obituary
We are sad to announce that on October 8, 2025, at the age of 86, William E. Carnathan of Flanders, New Jersey, born in Paterson, New Jersey passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Carnathan and Irene Carnathan (Kamerling); his wife Ruth Carnathan (Forbes); and his siblings, Robert, Walter, Harold Carathan, Iva Bankos, Lois Pruden, Beverly Dews, Claire Hoppstadter and Jean Easdale.
He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Therese Glennon (Tony), Ruth Anne Kuhl (Peter) and Patricia Ashe (Tom); his grandchildren, Melissa Kuhl, Sean Glennon, Tommy Ashe, Erin Glennon, Billy Kuhl and Connor Ashe; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Carnathan and Joseph Forbes (Bonnie). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (15 Furnace Rd, Chester, NJ 07930). A Mass will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Lawrence RC Church (375 Main St, Chester, NJ 07930). A burial will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (52 Totowa Rd, Totowa, NJ 07512).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities Diocese of Paterson.
